Capability Management, Operational Readiness – path to Winning or Loosing

Shinano was a Yamato-class aircraft carrier sunk by an US submarine Archerfish with only 4 torpedoes. Yamato itself took near 30 torpedos and direct dive bomber hits to be sunk. So, why did Shinano with overwhelming force superiority go under waves - just 10 hours after it left her dockyard? I became so thrilled by this story and its chain of events, I had to write an article with emphasis on methods in capability management and how these played to Shinanos demise.

From capability requirements into operational capability Building up a real-life capability to purposefully match the mission and objectives laid out for the organization, involves multiple levels of planning, and addressing range of topics. Each of which may be tainted with complexities. Capability Management takes a far simpler approach, and focuses only in the persistent outcomes of these actions. “WHAT”, instead of “HOW”.
